The new short story on my site is an example of what one might classify as "Local Color." The style was popular in the early 20th Century, especially between the teens and forties.
I have collected several books from the era, mainly adventures, for my own library. There is a particular narrative positivity within negative environments in these novels and short stories.
My main character, Jimmy Neeley, is a do-gooder from the city. Most of your readers who could afford a novel at the time would understand Jimmy and his altruism.
Consider the piece like a snow globe of a particular style and time...and enjoy.
More to come.
